Workforce Solutions For North Central Texas Receives $40,330 Externship For Teachers Grant
In March 2018, Workforce Solutions for North Central Texas was awarded a $40,330 Externship for Teachers grant by the Texas Workforce Commission to offer professional development opportunities to educators by connecting their classrooms to the workplace.
Workforce Solutions for North Central Texas, in collaboration with North Central Texas Independent School Districts, will extend these externships to middle and high school educators to provide hands on experiences, expand educators' knowledge on in-demand skill sets and occupations, and provide unique opportunities to engage and inspire students.

Workforce Solutions For North Central Texas Gains Two New Board Members
Anna Coker joins the Board as a private sector representative for Wise County. Ms. Coker is the owner of Learning Ladder Child Development Centers in Decatur, Texas. Learning Ladder established a partnership with Decatur ISD to provide early childhood services to district employees and their immediate families as well as the incorporation of the Preschool Program for Children with Disabilities for the district.
Stefanie Wagoner joins the Board as an economic development representative for the North Central Texas region. Ms. Wagoner has more than 20 years of economic development experience with various cities in the DFW area. She is currently the Director of Business Retention and Expansion for Frisco Economic Development Corporation.
Manufacturing Consortium Partners with Collin College for $510,246 Job-Training Grant
A Manufacturing Consortium, including Air Liquide America, Lennox Industries, Inc, TYG Products, and UNICOM Engineering, Inc, has partnered with Collin College to provide job training using a $510,246 Skills Development Fund grant from the Texas Workforce Commission (TWC).
Red Oak Independent School District Receives $263,602 JET Grant
The Texas Workforce Commission (TWC) has awarded Red Oak Independent School District (Red Oak ISD) a $263,602 Jobs and Education for Texans (JET) grant. The grant will help the school district purchase and install medical equipment for a hospital simulation lab to provide 375 students with training for nursing careers in the medical profession. The purchased equipment will continue to support the nursing program and future students enrolled with Red Oak ISD.

A Manufacturing Consortium that includes Bowie Industries, Empire Countertops, MFG Texas, Team Fishel and Tri-Tex Cabinets has partnered with North Central Texas College (NCTC) to provide job training using a $490,741 Skills Development Fund grant from the Texas Workforce Commission (TWC). The grant will benefit workers in the North Central Texas area.
Owens Corning Partners with Navarro College for $494,587 Job-Training Grant
Owens Corning Insulating Systems LLC (Owens Corning) has partnered with Navarro College to provide job training using a $494,581 Skills Development Fund grant from the Texas Workforce Commission (TWC). The grant will benefit workers in the North Central Texas area.
“The partnership between Owens Corning and Navarro College on this Skills Development Fund grant will benefit both the local community and its workforce,” said TWC Commissioner Representing Labor Julian Alvarez. “Our labor force is among the most talented and skilled in the world, and we continue to seek and implement strategies to improve the skills of Texas workers.”

Tracey Kirsch of Mineral Wells, Texas joins the Board as a private sector representative for Palo Pinto County. Mrs. Kirsch is the President of Electromedical Products International, Inc., a company that designs, manufactures, and distributes specialized medical devices for pain and stress-related disorders.
North Central Texas College and Ranger College Awarded Jobs and Education for Texans (JET) Grant Totaling $524,689
The Texas Workforce Commission (TWC) has awarded 26 grants totaling $5 million to public community and technical colleges and independent school districts for programs that focus on supporting high-demand occupations through the Jobs and Education for Texans (JET) grant program.
